Breast Cancer Awareness Month - Official Photographer

Once again, it's been a long time since I posted. I have been very busy photographing children, newborns and families in the Metro Detroit area.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I want to share today with you a photo that I am proud to have taken. For those of you who don't know, I am one of the official Detroit Race for the Cure photographers. I have the privilege to photograph this phenomenal event every year for the past four years.

Because my specialty in photography is children, I am assigned the Children's tent at the Race. I'm also asked to photograph emotion and capture the essence of the day. I share with you this photo. It speaks for itself.

I'll be posting more photos throughout this month, in support of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Little L at Eight Months Old

I was so happy to see Baby L last week. I had photographed her when she was three months old and now she's eight months old.

I walked in and she was all smiles. We had a lot of fun.

I just love baby faces. This first image is one of my favorites. I'll be using it on a promotional piece I'm designing.

Brothers

These two boys are great. I have a such a soft spot for little boys. I love their imaginations and their spunkiness! We talked about super heros, ninjas and favorite foods! Well, ok, if you must know...there was a little potty talk!

Almost Two and Loving It!

You all have seen "A" on my site many times. I've known her mother for a very long time and it's been a privilege to see "A" grow up before my eyes. She is a beautiful little girl with a lot of energy.

I know Mom wanted to see some shots from our short session. Here you go. She is lovely.

I love the summer colors of these photographs. I should also mention that A understands and speaks Romanian and English. Most of the time when I spoke her name she didn't even look at me! Perhaps I should work on my Romanian.

Baby M

A newborn baby is such a miracle. I photographed Baby M's Mom and Dad a mere six days before she was born. Here is Baby M at 10 days old.

She is such a beauty and is part of a wonderful and loving family. I'm looking forward to watching her grow.






I always learn something from my clients and this photo shoot was no exception. Little M's parents had travelled to Africa and brought back some beautiful khangas. Mom had the great idea of wrapping baby M in them. I love that it is a special fabric for them and that it reminds them of another special time in their lives.

What I did learn was that each of these fabrics have words written on them and those words communicate a message about the pattern of the fabric. This particular pattern means "Ah Ha" as in a wonderful surprise. How appropriate for their beautiful baby.



I don't know what the next fabric represents. I'll have to ask Mom!

Maternity

I recently met K and B who are expecting their first baby. Both were very fun to work with and open to photograph some creative images. Dad knows what the baby is going to be. Mom wants to wait and find out. I decided I better not know, lest I slip during the photo shoot.


I waned to share K's words regarding our photoshoot -


"Thank you so much for the beautiful pregnancy photographs. We just love them and have gotten so many compliments! My husband and I both felt very comfortable working with you during the shoot because of your helpful direction and willingness to listen to our suggestions. I personally felt connected as a couple as well as beautiful as a pregnant women. This was a wonderful experience to have during the final weeks of my pregnancy. Thank you! "


It was truly my pleasure to spend time with this couple during such a special time in their lives.

Creating images that people will love is, of course, what I strive to do. This couple had a photo from their wedding day that they wanted a complimentary image of.
